unit 4 communication through art and design

After Effects:

I took a clip i found on youtube from a film called grandmas boy and imported it into adobe After Effects. I then made a new composition and dragged the sample video into the composition, i used RAM preview to render the video, i then selected the part of the clip i wanted and trimmed it to the the comp work area.

After Effects hue/saturation

We took a sample picture from the PC and placed it in After Effects we dragged into our composition, we clicked on effects then hue/saturation, then colorize and clicked colorize hue making it an animation, we clicked a couple of second along the time bar changing the hue/saturation as we went along to make an animation where the picture changed colors.

More After Effects:
We took a background image from Moodle and placed into After Effects, we used the transform tool to change the scale and opacity of the background image, we then used the text tool to write a word of our choice (i wrote my name) and played around with the opacity, rotation and scale. Next we placed an AVI clip called flourish from Moodle into After Effects, then we changed it into a 3D layer and played around with the opacity, scale and orientation.

 After effects lens flare:

We made a new comp and added a solid layer selecting lens flare, we then added a text layer and added a word of our choosing (i chose my name Alex) we used the drop down bar on the lens flare to select flare center and flare brightness, brightening and dimming the flare where we wanted to. For the text layer we used the drop down bar to select mask path and mask feather to hide the text and make it visible when the flare brightened and dimmed.

After effects puppet manipulation:

For this we took an image of our choosing from Google and imported it into after effects, we used the puppet pin tool placing the pins in key areas like the wrists, elbows, knees, ankles, the chest and neck, we then moved the limbs with the pin points to make it look like our character was moving, we also made a motion tween which showed the path the character was moving on. finally we added a background picture of our choosing from Google.

PCA Advert After Effects:
This is the Advert i created using Adobe After Effects, i watched a tutorial on youtube on how to make introductions using After Effects thats where i learned how to use the camera by linking it to a null object and using that to move about with which made it easier. I also learned about particles and after fiddling around with it for a while i found bubbles (which has alot of customization, you can change the birth and death rate, their colour, how they move about, twirl, vortex etc...) which i decided to use to give the whole advert a clean proffesional look, the grey and white gradient i used helped with that aswell. The reason i wanted it to look this way was because of the feedback i got from my questionaire, alot of people said they liked their adverts to be crazy and artistic, while others said they liked it short and simple so i thought i'd try to blend the two. I used images that students on the course created (with their permission ofcourse) to show the audience what they could be doing if they join the course, i had the camera spin and pan to the images individually with vector graphics that i got from moodle inbetween. I also use Drop Shadow which i learned from a demo in lesson to give the images, the graphics and the text a shadow to make it look more 3D. Hopefully when people veiw this advert the message and visual language will get across to them and they will be interested in joing the course.
