PCAD ideas/research

This i an after effects show-reel i found on youtube, its by a guy called Orjan Trotland and it shows all of his after effects work from 2008-2009, i added it to my blog because some of the things in the video were really good and i'm thinking about using it in our project. (the technique not the actual thing).

Key aspects in advertisement:

An advert should always have the following aspects:

1. An advert should always have direction, it should show you it's meaning is as well as tell you it's meaning.
2. An advert should draw you in, make you interested in what it's trying to advertise.
3. An advert must always have a clear indication as to the brand its advertising, and the product.

What is the message? Does the message fit with the art style/theme?:

This is the trailer for Final Fantasy VII-2 the message for this ad is pretty clear, it says our game looks beautiful, the story is intense and engaging and the final message is buy me. The art style alos fits with the ad.

This is an ad by santander where they make a bridge out of lego to help a family on its way, conveying the message that if your with santander they will understand and help you, also by using lego blocks to make the bridge and periodically going back to the car with the kid in the back who also has some lego blocks its like saying were building a better future for you AND your children. The theme they chose for this ad is very fitting and appropriate for their message.

This an ad by cannon using Adobe After Effect, the message they convey by using after effects is that you can bring your pictures to life, you can make them 3D and interactive. The message fits with the style.

Questionaire:

    • What does interactive media mean to you?
    • What does game arts mean to you?
    • What target audience does interactive media and game arts atrract?
    • Do you notice the advertisements on busses?
    • Do you prefer advertisements to be short and sweet or would you prefer it to be crazy and artisitic?
    •  What's the first word that comes to mind when i say digital art?
    • Do you know what metro style is?
    • Do you like watching animations?
    • What do you tend to look for in adverts?
    • Do you play games?
    • What games do you play?

Feedback:

A lot of people associated interactive media with touch games and animations, a few mentioned coding aswell, when i asked what game arts meant to them most people replied, art/3D and concept art.
Most people think the target audience for interactive media and game arts is 15+. Most people i asked didnt notice the ads on busses they spend most of their time looking out the window or listening to music. Everyone i asked said they enjoyed watching animations. Most people i asked want there adverts to be funny and clever and have a catchy slogan. Everyone i asked plays some kind of game.

Research

The story of us. By Ozan Civit.

This is and animation about how Ozan Civit met his future wife, its a really sweet animation with really simple drawings and even simpler animations, it's only 2 minutes and 29 seconds long but he manages to convey all that transpires with visuals more than text. The style he uses is simple and sweet which fits his message and the music in video really well.

This is the weeping woman by Pablo Picasso, as the name says its a painting of a woman crying, though its very abstract so im sure not many people understand its meaning, but ofcourse people take there own meanings from paintings like these, for me its almost as if shes trapped by something, and thats why she's weeping. She looks afraid and alone, hopeless.

This is a painting by Vincent Van Gogh called Wheat Field With Cypresses. Im not entireley sure of the message given across by this painting, well its intended one anyway, but to me it looks as though everything is being pressed down upon, or like its been smoothed over into one direction i dont know if thats supposed to be the wind which by the looks of the clouds is quite strong. If i were to take something from this painting it would be that nature is no ones slave, it is wild and can endure through the worst.
